A leading brand is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager based in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands (Hybrid, Full-time). In this key leadership position, you will lead a best-in-class, cross-functional team of software engineers. Your responsibilities include defining and promoting team strategies for working, hiring, and training, ensuring a balanced development team that consistently delivers high-quality software. Responsibilities:
  • Lead up to three cross-functional development teams of software engineers.
  • Foster an environment for individual and team growth in both soft and technical skills.
  • Ensure teams deliver high-quality features and meet customer expectations.
  • Identify and resolve any anti-patterns or dysfunctions affecting team performance.
  • Own the delivery commitment of the team, ensuring promises are met.
  • Keep key technology stakeholders informed and involved.
  • Protect and support your team to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Advocate Lean Agile Development Principles and ensure software is released with minimal effort and no production issues.
  • Balance key aspects of the software development lifecycle for your teams.
  • Ensure adherence to non-functional requirements, quality standards, and coding practices.
  • Optimize processes to enhance quality, predictability, and output.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the product domain within your value stream.
  • Recognize and celebrate milestones, both small and large, to build team cohesion and morale.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary Agile development teams, preferably in a product company. Banking, payments, and SaaS experience is a plus.
  • A high-energy team player with a passion for software development and delivery.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience, including at least 2 years at Principal or Architecture level.
  • Solid understanding and experience with Agile software development practices like Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Familiarity with technical practices like continuous integration, automated testing, release management, and performance monitoring, and tools such as Atlassian and Git.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan effectively, and work well under pressure and ambiguity.
  • Strong ability to persuade, inspire, and motivate others, with excellent English speaking, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience setting up new development teams, including hiring and training strategies, is a plus.
  • Digital savvy and street smart, with a hands-on, self-motivated approach.
  • Strong Agile project management skills and ability to act decisively across departments, time zones, and cultures.
  • A natural coach who guides self-evaluation of performance, diagnoses areas for improvement, and drives team progress.
