Data Quality Assurance/Data Engineer

The client is looking for a Data Quality Assurance/Data Engineer to work a 6 month extendable contract supporting a data transformation project in the Caribbean.

Job Summary:

The client is seeking an experienced Data Quality Assurance/Data Engineer to manage daily operations for their Enterprise Oracle Data Warehouse (DWH) in the telecommunications sector. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the full ETL lifecycle, from source data ingestion and file management on Linux systems to the execution of ETL pipelines using SAP Data Services and Oracle Procedures. This role demands a keen eye for data quality, an ability to work with large datasets, and the flexibility to operate during scheduled DWH ETL maintenance windows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enterprise Oracle DWH Operations:
  • Oversee daily operations and management of the Enterprise Oracle Data Warehouse.
  • Ensure smooth execution of the full ETL lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
• ETL Lifecycle Management:
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain ETL pipelines using SAP Data Services and Oracle Procedures.
  • Perform end-to-end data quality assurance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of large datasets.
• Source Data Ingestion & File Management:
  • Manage source file ingestion and processing using Linux systems development tools and best practices.
  • Ensure timely and secure transfer of source data files for downstream ETL processes.
• Data Quality Assurance:
  • Implement and monitor data quality checks and validation routines throughout the ETL process.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and optimize workflows to improve data integrity.
• Operational Flexibility:
  • Work during DWH ETL maintenance windows and provide on-call support as needed to address critical issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, telecommunications, and business units, to ensure seamless data operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in managing daily operations for an Enterprise Oracle Data Warehouse.
• In-depth knowledge of the full ETL lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes.
• Proficiency in SAP Data Services and Oracle Procedures for developing and managing ETL pipelines.
• Strong background in Linux systems development for effective source file management.
• Demonstrated experience in handling large datasets, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with data quality assurance frameworks and tools.
• Familiarity with additional ETL tools and data management platforms.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to working with various stakeholders.
